Pace yourself

Different systems move at varying speeds, with fast-moving systems (fashion)learning and innovating, and slow-moving layers (culture ) retain power and continuity.

In any system, some parts move rapidly, like fashion, while others, such as nature or culture, evolve slowly over eons. Each system’s pace is regulated by the slower systems it depends on

Fast systems propose and innovate, but slow systems hold the power and maintain continuity.

What I take away from this is to know which system you are dealing with, and make peace with the time to a feedback output you can get for your inputs. If you are in a big organization, you can’t change the culture of it, but you can change one tiny process of the team you have influence on, for eg.
